About us
Over the last year, there is no doubt that the pandemic has impacted us all. It was a difficult year for small businesses, especially everyone who worked in the service and dining industry. Rather than throwing in the towel; we leaned on the grit and support of the Chicago people to adapt to our new normal and deliver a completely reimagined dining experience called The Duplex. What started as two “ghost” kitchens in downtown Chicago has transformed into a modern community dining space that collaborates with the city’s best up-and-coming chefs.
The Duplex partners with new chefs every 6 months. These rotating menu concepts will reflect the diverse flavors of our unique neighborhoods and give new culinary talents a chance to shine in our kitchen. As a Black-owned business, The Duplex serves as an inclusive space to gather, indulge, dance, network and grow together. Through the vision of owner, Le’Qoinne Rice, we strive to bring you an innovative dining experience no matter where you come from. So, pull up a seat at our table because we couldn’t have done this without you, Chicago.
Owner Le'Qoinne Rice debuts a community focused dining experience, with a modern twist.
Meet our Head
Chef David Rodriguez
Born in Mexico, David immigrated to Chicago when he was 2 years old. He spent the early years of his life working at his father’s restaurant in Roscoe Village. It was in that kitchen where he learned how to cook on the line, keep up with the hustle + bustle of the food industry, and where he fell in love with different styles of cooking.
David will work closely with our featured chefs in operating the kitchen to ensure a successful new menu launch. Sound like something you want to be a part of?
